The tree

These two photos show the houses in Bridge Street, Robertstown from roughly the same aspect in May 1963 (left) and in August 2003 (right). The old photo to the left is a reduced copy of the one shown in the "other mementoes" section of the site. It shows John Tomkins in the high jump with Jeffrey Rowe Davies in the background mentally preparing for his turn. Just to the left of Jeff, as you look at the photo, is a sapling which must have grown into the poplar tree which is obvious in the recent photo. The tree in the background of the old photo (a monkey puzzle tree) has now gone and the gable end of a new building can be seen roughly in its place. This is an extension to the Gadlys Arms pub.
