The GWR engine shed site, 2003
This picture was taken from the footbridge at the bottom of Tudor Terrace
on the way to the playing field in Robertstown. The building in the background
is a modern industrial unit which replaced the original engine shed which stood
on the site. The original shed also had three gables, like this new building,
but was built of brick. It was closed in 1965 and was finally demolished in
1969. Geoff Kerley has sent us these great pictures of the engine
sheds as they appeared in the 1960s. The bungalow at the left looks like
a modern development standing at the top end of what used to be the sidings.
