The two staff members are Mr Tom Evans, Head of Geography, and Mr Bernard Evans,
Teacher of Welsh. The person with his back to the camera is probably a student,
but we do not know who he was. The location looks like a mountain top, possibly
Pen y Fan, but the year is unknown, except that it must have been between 1955
and 1963 when Mr Bernard Evans taught at the school.
Bernard Evans was educated at the Gwendraeth Valley Grammar School in Carmarthenshire, and
U.C. Cardiff 1948-53. He left ABGS to be Head of Welsh at Whitchurch Grammar
School in Cardiff. Eventually, he left teaching to work at BBC Wales. Mr Evans died
a relatively young man aged 64 in 1991.
