“CASCADE” An Anthology of Poems

The Pupils of Aberdare Boys’ Comprehensive School

Over a period of eighteen months, commencing in January 1989, the school hosted four outside speakers who each spent at least day with a group of boys exploring various themes. Following each visit, the pupils wrote poems using the subject matter as a stimulus for their writing. At the end of the project, it was decided to produce a booklet of the pupils’ work, and to have it illustrated by the school’s Art teacher Peter Protheroe. Each of the four sections is preceded by an introduction written by the visiting speaker.
