Aberdare County School.
Shakespearian Performances.
On Thursday, Friday & Saturday of last week performances of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream were given by the scholars of the County Schools. The scholars have given dramatic displays before, but this was their first attempt to perform a Shakespearian play in full, and very well indeed did they perform their work, the performances reflecting great credit on the histrionic talent of the school. We do not think that any County School in Wales has attempted such a big task as was so successfully accomplished by the Aberdare County School last week. The characters were impersonated as follows:—
Fairies: Oberon (King), Nellie Phillips; Titania (Queen), Mildred Pratt; First Fairy, Teggie Williams; Second Fairy, Florrie Jones; Third Fairy, Maggie Halewood; Peaseblossom, May George; Cobweb, Minnie Hughes; Moth, May Kent; Mustard-seed, Mabel Charles; Goblins, G. H, Evans, T. Millar, W. Oxenham, T. Reynolds, F. W. Smith, R. H. Williams; Puck, Irene Pratt. Mortals: Hippolyta (Queen of the Amazons), Rebe Morgan; Hermia, Mabel Giles; Helena, Lizzie Parfitt; Theseius [sic], J. S. Mackintosh; Egeus, Reggie Jones; Philostrate, J. S. Vincent; Lysander and Demitrius, Arnold Evans and T. M. Williams; Quince, D. E. Price; Snug D. A. Davies; Flute, W. J. Jones; Snout, W. T. White; Starvelling [sic], D. A.
