National Youth Orchestra of Wales: Concerts 1959

This page contains the programme of the concerts given by the
National Youth Orchestra of Wales in 1959.
They took place in Corwen, Criccieth, the National Eisteddfod in Caernarfon, Cardiff, Port Talbot and Swansea. There was also a BBC Television Concert Hour performance.

In 1959 there was just one pupil from our school in the orchestra, the French Horn player Terry Johns. In the ’cello section there is a player named Gwilym Ambrose. Quite possibly the son of the former headmaster of ABGS, Gwilym Prichard Ambrose, who by 1959 was in post as Principal at Caerleon Training College.
