Miss A.E. Roberts’ Class, circa 1928
from Menna White (née Edwards)
Menna White’s mother, then Ada Mary Phillips, is 3rd in from the right in the
back row. She was brought up in Tonllwyd Cottages.
It is thought that this is a sixth form, and some of the girls are wearing their
prefects’ badge.
The teacher is Miss Annie Elizabeth Roberts, M.A., (History). She was born in 1888, and
schooled in Birmingham.
She went to university in Aberystwyth and arrived at AGGS in 1923. She retired from
there in 1947, but stayed in the area and died in 1971.
