Palgrave, Francis Turner (1941)
The Golden Treasury
Reprinted 1948
Oxford University Press.
This book is suggested as the source of the poetry we had to learn
for our O-level English Literature. I’m a bit uncertain about whether this
was the edition we used, but I’m sure it was this treasury of verse. The book
is mentioned specifically in the
1957
O-level English Literature paper from Drew Haman. It contains nearly all the
poems I remember from school days, and also all the poems in the correct number order,
listed in Colin’s English Literature exercise
book from 1961-62. However, I’m still uncertain about its use in later
years so if anyone else has any memories or records of this or an alternative book
I’d be pleased to know about it.
