In Aberdare Gwynne Henton Davies lived in Graig House, the very last
house in Aberdare on the road that leads to Maerdy. He attended the school 1918-22.
After a long and successful period in higher education he became in 1935 a Baptist
Minister in Hammersmith. In 1938 he moved to Bristol where he lectured at the Baptist
College and the University of Bristol. A period at Durham University as the first
Professor of Old Testament Studies followed until 1958 when he concluded his career
as Principal of Regent’s Park College, Oxford until his retirement in 1972.
His co-author of this book was his wife Annie Bronwen Davies.
