This book is mentioned specifically in a test paper in English Language that we were set in Form 5, I believe by Mr Griffiths. This suggests that we used it extensively in classes. The test paper has the following questions:

Q2. “Precis the prose passage on pages 153 and 154 of ‘Black and Lawley’ ”

Q3. “Pages 107,  108,  109 ‘Black and Lawley’ Comprehension. Answer a to f inclusive on page 109.”

Note from the title page that one of the authors, E. L. Black, was an Examiner in English Language (G.C.E. Ordinary Level) for the Welsh Joint Education Committee.
