photograph & names from Nigel Watts (ABGS 1965–72)
Although not unique for father and son to play for the school it is nevertheless
rare, but both Nigel and his father appear in ABGS rugby team photos. Watts senior, David
Watts, can be found in the photographs of the 1944–45 and 1945–46 1st XV rugby teams.
Nigel lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and works in the oil and gas industry
as a geologist, due in no small part to taking geology in school and having a great geology
teacher in Meirion Jenkins. Nigel and his wife have lived in Canada for over 34 years.
Nigel’s wife, Barbara Healy, is also from Aberdare – Foundry Town – and
attended the Girls’ Grammar School.
