Notes on some of the Aberdare players
- John Benjamin Davies of Tanybryn Street. Probably the boy who returned to school
from 1945 to 1967 as a teacher of history and French. Known to his pupils as ‘Curly’.
- J. D. Jones, not known.
- Evan Gwanwyn Davies of Glannant St, Aberdare.
- Richard Bowen Jones travelled to the school from Glynneath.
- B. C. Erricker, Mary St, Aberdare. Brinley Cenydd Erricker, was a pupil at the school
from 1917 to 1923. He was captain of Rugby 1922-23, and captain of Cricket 1923. He
became Senior Maths Master at Leyton High School, N.E. London.
- Edward John Shannon came from Maelgwyn Terrace on the Gadlys.
- Edward Llewellyn Williams of Broniestyn Terrace, Trecynon.
- Thomas Herbert Kelly of Jenkin Street, Aberdare went on to hold positions at the
universities of Cape Town, Natal and Fort Hare in South Africa. In 1968 he emigrated
to Canada and took up a position at Queen’s University in Ontario. Professor Kelly
died in 1999 in Victoria, Canada.
