Sports Day

These four boys were the members of the invitation inter-school medley relay team. The programme shows that the legs were 220, 100, 220 and 440 yards. Lyndon tells us he ran one of the 220 legs. The team scored a victory and Tom is shown holding the winners cup. Jack Bowen and T.R. James can be seen in the background; they were track judge and recorder respectively.

On the left is an extract from the 1946 Sports Day Programme showing this event. The whole programme is available in the menu of the Sports Section. Lyndon replaced Brian Lendon Berry as a result of a trial that took place in the days before the race, but after the programme was printed. It is remarkable that Tom looks so fresh, he took part in at least 10 events on this Sports Day!
