Aberdare Boys’ Grammar School
School Buildings

A video film of the school building in 1996
from Bob Jones, (Canada)
This short video sequence was filmed on a visit to the UK in 1996 by the late Bob Jones, a former pupil of the school (1933–1937), who lived in Canada for most of his adult life.
The short video shows the school buildings 22 years after they were used by the grammar school. The Cynon Valley Borough Council, CVBC, had used the buildings for office accommodation, but on 1 April 1996 the council was merged into the Rhondda Cynon Taf unitary authority, and the building fell into disuse.
Keen-eyed past pupils will notice that by this time the Hall chimney stacks had been removed as well as the windows in the upper part of the two School Hall gable ends.
The video file is a large one, nearly 7MB, and so may take about 30 seconds or so to load on some slow broadband connections.
