The Supplementary Certificate was usually taken after one year in the sixth form and was awarded in
separate subjects.

He married Muriel Marshall of Ilkeston, Derbyshire, in 1934 at a wedding ceremony in Nottinghamshire. After gaining a very good result at the Senior Stage of the CWB examinations, in 1922 at the age of 15, he transferred to Bishops Stortford College, Hertfordshire. D.L.E. Evans remained in Aberdare and managed the business after his father’s death in 1941.
