A ceremony was held on Friday, September 27th, 1996 to celebrate the centenary of the School. (The date on the plaque is the 28th – we cannot explain the discrepancy.) Mr Tom Evans was invited to dedicate and plant a tree to commemorate the event which was held at the front of the new school at the bottom of Cwmdare Hill. The tree was a Serbian Spruce (Picea Omorika).
