All the boys who entered Form 1 did so in September of 1927. All the others arrived in the Spring or Summer Terms of that year.

Handel Davies transferred from the Gadlys School, and three years later in 1930 won a State Scholarship before entering U.C. Cardiff. He had a stellar career as an aerodynamicist, and played a leading role in the development of the supersonic aircraft, Concorde. He was awarded The Order of the Bath (Civil Division) in the New Years Honours, 1962. He has an entry in the Former Pupils section of this website.

Charles Edward Landeg Morris was an Aberdarian who came from a long-established family in the town. After the Town Council (later Caradog) elementary school, he attended the Aberdare Boys County School 1927–33, and later graduated with honours from U.C. Cardiff in Latin, 1936, and French in 1937. His Diploma in Education was taken at the University of Reading. Prior to arriving as Latin master at Aberdare in January 1953, he had spent six years teaching at Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital School in Bristol. Mr Morris retired from teaching at the school in 1978, and died in 1994 at the age of 78.

William Ewart Timothy was an older brother of Oliver J. Timothy, Divisional Education Officer for Aberdare, and later in his career Deputy Director of Education for Glamorgan

Wilfred Walter Canter was a well known officer of the Aberdare Urban District Council, based in the Town Hall, High Street. He also took an active role in one of the local amateur operatic societies. His son was the accomplished musician John Canter, ABGS 1964–71.
