Notes
Spring & Summer term entry: The first five pupils in the list, Idris Bruton to Neville Leslie Probert, enrolled in the Spring and Summer terms of 1916. All the others enrolled in the Autumn term.
Age on Entry: Pupils entering Form 1 were generally
aged 12+ in the early days of the school. There was no Form 2 and the four-year
course to School Certificate concluded in Form 5.

Pupils
Neville Leslie Probert, (1904–1989), qualified in medicine and became a GP in Caerphilly.
Cyril Waring Berry, (1903–1962), was a grandson of the well-known Victorian photographer J. Lendon Berry. Cyril’s father R.L. Berry took over the business in Commercial Street, known as The Globe Studios. Cyril left school for Winchester Teacher Training College.
Harold John Sheppard, (1903– ), went on to U.C. Cardiff. He emigrated to North America in 1923.
Thomas Phillips, (1903–), was the son of a colliery labourer. He went to U.C. Cardiff with a Rees Llewellyn Scholarship. He gained an M.A. in 1924 and became Head of Welsh at Gowerton Intermediate School. In 1940, he became an Inspector of Schools in the City of Cardiff.
Rupert Rees
Rupert Rees, (1903–98), became a railwayman. Starting
as a cleaner in 1918, he became a fireman in 1923, and driver in 1941. He became Chairman
of the Aberdare Urban District Council in 1960.

Church, Monk St, 26th June 1960. The service was conducted by Rev. D. Jacob Davies.
Robert John Walters, (1902– ), was the son of Robert Walters, Overman/Underground, Ocean Colliery, Treharris.
Arthur Charlton Cox, (1906–1985), was one of the four children of the school’s headmaster Walter Charlton Cox. All four qualified in medicine.
Oliver Dudley Evans, (1905–1972), was a son of Evans the Sadler of Commercial St. He left for U.C.W. Aberystwyth.
Percival Handel Escott, (1902–1964), concluded his teaching career at Caradog Primary School in Clifton Street, Aberdare - a school which he attended himself as a boy. Percy is the father of John Escott, (ABGS 1948–56) and Gillian Escott who attended AGGS. The family lived in Park Grove, Trecynon.
Henry Uren Pascoe, (1904–1966), became a colliery fan engineman in Mountain Ash.
