Cornelius Francis Dance His father worked in the Tinplate Works that once stood at the bottom of Meirion Street in Trecynon.

Morgan David The David family lived at The Grange, Aberaman. They owned the Black Lion Brewery; were wholesale wine and spirit merchants; owners of the Recreation Grounds and Empire Theatre, Rock Grounds. They were also landowners in the Aberdare and Abergavenny areas. Also horse breeders. Morgan David was a WW1 war casualty and died in 1917. His name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.

Lily Adelaide Dovey was the daughter of the publican at the Queen’s Hotel. The building in Canon Street became Montague Burton – ‘the Tailor of Taste’.

Lotta (Charlotte) Evans was the daughter of Rev. Melchizedec Evans, Unitarian Minister at Highland Place. An elder sister of Lotta, Gwladys Elizabeth Evans, married T.J. Lewis and became the mother of the poet Alun Lewis.

Eli Fine was the son of Jacob Fine, a Pawnbroker of Penrhiwceiber.

Mostyn Frederick George was the son of Fred D.E. George, a well known Aberdare undertaker.

Viola Hague was the daughter of the Baptist Minister Rev. George Hague of Hirwaun.

David John Harris was the son of Henry Harris, a licenced victualler of the Castle Hotel, Aberaman.

William Thomas Winstone Harry was the son of Joseph and Celia Eliza Harry. William was a WW1 war casualty and died in 1916. He was in the Royal Navy, and a crew member of H.M.S. Indefatigable. His name is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.

Catherine M Jones was the daughter the Calvinistic Methodist Minister Rev. Morris D. Jones.

Olwen Manuel was the daughter of Rev. T. Manuel, a Wesleyan Minister, Trecynon.

Frank Gwyn Notton was the son of the headmaster of the Town (Council) School, Clifton St. He was a WW1 war casualty and died in Belgium in 1917.

Hugh Alan Oxenham, (1894–1978), was the son of William Oxenham, a plumber, Maesydre. He married Olwen Rees Jones (Café Mona family), in 1924. He became a Master Heating Engineer and Plumber.

William Charles Oxenham, (1894–1960) was the son of Lewis Oxenham, a gas fitter, Maesydre. He died in Sully Hospital aged 66.

Muriel Emma Stephens was the daughter of Rev. H.T. Stephens, Minister of Carmel C.M. Chapel.

Minnie Marion Tay was the daughter of an ostler, John S Tay of Abernant. After leaving school, Minnie joined the committee of the Past Student Society in 1919, joining her sister Vera who was already a member. Minnie stayed a loyal committee member until the late 1920s. In 1938 she married Henry T.O. Henneage in Honiton, Devon. Her brother Frank was assistant librarian at Aberdare’s first Public Library. If you look carefully you will find Minnie in this Aberdare Town Tennis Club photograph. Minnie lived until she was 97, and died in Somerset in 1987.

Dorothy Thomas was the daughter of Ben. Thomas, the photographer of Swansea and Aberdare.

Geoffrey Lyn Thomas was the son of Dr Ieuan G. and Jeanie Thomas, of Maesyffrwd, Hirwaun. Later in 1918 as Capt. G.L. Thomas of the Royal Field Artillery, he became a WW1 casualty. He is buried in Marfaux British Cemetery, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

Edward Thomas Williams was the son of John Williams, Manager of the Tinplate Works.

In addition to the occupations mentioned above there were 29 children of men working in collieries, 16 with a parent working in a shop, 3 children of teachers, 2 children of policemen, 6 children of railwaymen, and 4 children of surgeons.
