Over a period of time you will find here a series of articles about the long period of difficult negotiations that took place in Aberdare, and County Hall Cardiff, to move Aberdare from a selective system to a comprehensive system of secondary education. The change came in September 1978, when the school was one of the last in Wales to make the transition.
