The photograph was spotted a few years ago in Jacob's Market Antique Warehouse, Cardiff by Geoffrey Evans. He contacted Gareth Thomas, a past student of the school, about the find, who later purchased the photo. The photographer is a J. Harris of the Triumph Studio, Aberdare.

We have tried to track down some details of the boys in the picture and we are fairly certain of the identities in most cases.

J.M. Davies John Morgan Davies from Bryn Celyn, Cwmbach initially went on to be an uncertificated teacher.

G. Thomas - possibly Garfield Thomas of College St, Aberdare.

B.G. Runge - Bernhard Guy Runge - son of Runge the watch and clockmaker in Cardiff St. He eventually lived in Brynawel, and taught chemistry at the Gadlys School.

W.E. Watkins - William Ewart Watkins of Dare Villas, Aberdare. Joined The Glamorgan Yeomanry but was wounded.

J.H. Jordan - John Handel Jordan of Maesgwyn Cottage. Initially went on to be an uncertificated teacher.

C.A. Jenkins - Cledwyn Afan Jenkins from Abercwmboi. He died almost exactly one year later.

A.T. Rees - Albert Thomas Rees of Miners Row, Llwydcoed. Initially went on to be an uncertificated teacher.

D.A. Phillips - David Archibald Phillips of Bwllfa Rd, Cwmdare. Initially went on to be an uncertificated teacher but later joined the Navy.

Ben Davies - Ben Griffiths Davies of Cemetery Rd, Trecynon. He was the son of John Davies (Pen Dar), and went on to teach at Ynyslwyd School.

H. Cox - Harold Egbert Cox of Miners Row, Llwydcoed. Initially went on to be an uncertificated teacher.
