East Glamorgan Youth Orchestra

This is a photograph taken in the assembly hall of Pontypridd Boys' Grammar School in 1959. Normally rehearsals took place with woodwind and brass on the stage, with strings below in the hall. In this photograph, the arrangement is unusual in that the photographer was on the stage and orchestra assembled at the rear of the hall. Mr Haydn Davies, conductor and music master at the school, is on the far left in a light-coloured pullover. Mr D. Roger Jones is on the far right, wearing spectacles and just in front of the fire hose. To see the players a little more clearly, click here.

Concert Programme

Each year the orchestra put on a concert, mainly for parents. Reproduced below, is the programme of the 1960 concert.
