Deiniol Williams was a native of Caernafonshire. He had a first class honours degree in geography form U.C. North Wales (Bangor, 1927) and an M.A. (Liverpool, 1932). After a three-year teaching post in Liverpool, he came to Aberdare in September 1932 and remained at the school until July, 1937. On leaving Aberdare he took up a post as a geography lecturer at the Normal College, Bangor. However, he returned to the South when he was appointed Director of Education for Breconshire.
