Aberdare Boys’ Grammar SchoolThe School Concert, Summer Term 1957 |
School Musical Production, May 1957
‘Mass in G’ (Schubert)
This was the sixteenth concert in the series. As usual, there were miscellaneous items and a main item, on this occasion it was Schubert’s ‘Mass in G’. The conductor was Mr. P.E. Phillips; Mr. T.R. James and Mr J. Gethin Evans provided the continuo. There were three soloists: Heather Harper (Soprano), Maldwyn Phillips (Tenor) and Eric Mortimore (Bass). Once again The Morgan Lloyd Orchestra was in attendance.
No mention of a concert for 1956 is seen on page 3 of the programme. This was the year of the National Eisteddfod at Aberdare; the school musical society contributed to the Tuesday evening concert instead, and possibly other events as well.
